DAY 1: VALLEY OF A 1000 HILLS
On arrival in Durban, your expert guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel (private basis). Embark on a three hour Valley of a 1000 Hills Tour. Highlights of this three hour tour include: Travel West to the Valley of a 1000 hills (PHEZULU VILLAGE) for a Zulu cultural experience. We then go on to Assegai Safari Park to learn the habits of the African Reptiles, thereafter we go to the NILE CROCODILE. Return to Durban via scenic route.
DAY
2: HLUHLUWE GAME RESERVE – ST LUCIA
– DURBAN
Have an early morning breakfast then depart Durban and travel via scenic route to Hluhluwe Game Reserve. On arrival we take a game drive in a closed vehicle in Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Enjoy the splendour of Africa and Africa’s Big 5: Lion, Buffalo and Elephant. followed by a Visit to iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site (previously known as The Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park). Enjoy a river cruise on the estuary. Highlights include prolific wetlands bird life, fish eagles, hippo and crocodiles. Continue south long Indian Ocean coastline, arriving at the bustling city of Durban during the late afternoon. Drop off at your Hotel.
DAY 3: DURBAN
Full day tour of Shakaland
Depart Durban and travel to Eshowe, as well as the authentic Zulu Kraal of Shakaland. Experience the sight of assegai wielding warriors, share the fascinating secretes of Sangomas and witness traditional customs such as tribal dancing, spear making and beer making ceremony. Traditional Zulu lunch will be served.
DAY 4: DURBAN-JOHANNESBURG
Depart Durban and travel to Johannesburg; on arrival to Johannesburg we will transfer you to your hotel (private basis). Embark on a half day tour City Tour of Johannesburg. Highlights of this half day tour include: The historical buildings of downtown Johannesburg passing Hillbrow and the landmark Post Office tower en route; the ‘Top of Africa’ at the Carlton Centre; the Brixton Tower; the affluent suburb of Houghton, the Supreme Court, ‘Museum Africa’ (time permitting), the Nelson Mandla Bridge in Newtown and a fully guided tour of the Constitutional Court and a site of Johannesburg’s Old Fort Prison.
DAY 5: JOHANNESBURG – SOWETO
After breakfast, we depart then go to the busy and alive streets of Soweto. We will start at the Hector Peterson Memorial and Museum, then we go to Vilakazi Street the world famous Street that has two Nobel Prize winners (Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu). Lunch will be served at Vilakazi Street Restaurant which is also popular for the fabulous Africa Cuisine. To complete our Soweto tour we go Kliptown where you will see the only Parliament that is built in a township. We shall then return to the hotel in early afternoon to rest and later have dinner.
DAY 6: JOHANNESBURG – MPUMALANGA- DULLSTROOM – LYDENBURG – SABIE
Depart Johannesburg and travel to Mpumalanga, ‘Place where the Sun rises’. Today’s route takes us via the historical towns of Witbank, Dullstroom and Lydenburg. Continue along the Long Pass to the quaint town of Sabie. Visit the Lone Creek Waterfalls before arriving at your elegant hid away, where dinner will be served.
DAY 7: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
After an early morning breakfast, enter the world famous Kruger National Park, unrivalled for its diversity of flora, fauna and bird life, seeking the Big 5. Leave the park and continue to your private game lodge. Arrive in time for afternoon tea, followed by your evening game drive in an open safari vehicle. Return to the lodge for dinner under the stars (weather permitting).
DAY 8: PANORAMA ROUTE
After an early morning bush walk or game drive and breakfast leave the lodge and travel via the Panorama Route featuring the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Gods Window and Mac Mac Waterfalls. Arrive back at the lodge in the after for dinner and rest.
DAY 9: We transfer you to the Durban International Airport for your homebound flight.
